OPSMED — DESTINATIONS
Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 1, 2026
IMPORTANT: This Privacy Policy describes how Be Prepared Education LLC ("the Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with OpsMed — Destinations (the "App" or the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you ("User" or "you") agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope and Applicability
This Privacy Policy applies to the OpsMed — Destinations mobile application for iPhone and CarPlay, including all features described in the OpsMed — Destinations Terms of Service. It does not apply to other Be Prepared Education LLC products (such as CredMinder, SafeReady, or LCS), each of which has its own separate privacy policy.
Terms not defined here have the meanings given in the OpsMed — Destinations Terms of Service.
2. Information We Collect
OpsMed — Destinations is designed to operate primarily on your device. We have deliberately minimized the categories of information that leave your device. The following sections describe what is collected, where it is processed, and what is and is not transmitted to us.
2.1 Location Data
To calculate live distances and ETAs to your saved destinations, the App requests access to your device location through Apple's CoreLocation framework.
| Data Type | Source | Purpose | Where It Is Processed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Precise device location (latitude, longitude, course, speed) | iOS CoreLocation | Calculate haversine distance and request route ETAs from Apple MapKit | On your device only |
| Significant location changes (movement of approximately 0.25 mi or more) | iOS CoreLocation | Trigger ETA recalculation when you have meaningfully moved | On your device only |
| Location permission status | iOS Settings | Determine whether the App can deliver live ETAs | On your device only |
Your location is not transmitted to Be Prepared Education LLC. The App does not include any backend service, analytics pipeline, or third-party SDK that receives, stores, or processes your location data on our servers. Location data is used by iOS components on your device (CoreLocation, MapKit) and is shared only with the third-party navigation app you select when you tap a destination (see Section 5.3).
2.2 User-Entered Destination Data
The App stores the destinations you create, including:
- Destination name and street address.
- Geocoded coordinates derived from the address.
- Capability tags you assign (Trauma Level, Stroke certification, STEMI receiver, Pediatric capability, Burn center, Psychiatric receiving, Helipad).
- Optional free-text notes you enter (such as gate codes, radio frequencies, points of contact).
This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data / SwiftData framework and is not transmitted to Be Prepared Education LLC. It is your data; you own it; you control it.
2.3 Purchase and Receipt Data
When you purchase OpsMed Pro through Apple's App Store, the following information is processed:
| Data Type | Source | Purpose | Where It Is Processed |
|---|---|---|---|
| App Store transaction receipt | Apple StoreKit 2 | Validate your purchase and unlock Pro features | On your device; verified via Apple |
| Purchase status (active, refunded) | Apple StoreKit 2 | Determine whether Pro features are available on your device | On your device |
Apple, not the Company, processes the actual payment transaction. We never receive your payment method, billing address, name, email, or Apple ID. Pro entitlement is managed entirely on-device via Apple's StoreKit 2 framework; v1 of the App does not use any third-party purchase, subscription, or entitlement-management service.
2.4 Diagnostic Data
If you have iOS analytics sharing enabled in your device Settings, anonymized crash reports and performance metrics may be transmitted to Apple, who shares aggregated, non-identifying summaries with us. This data does not include your location, your destinations, or any personally identifying information. You can disable this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your device.
The App does not include third-party analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or Amplitude) in v1.
2.5 Promo Code Redemption
If you redeem a Promo Code (see the OpsMed — Destinations Terms of Service for details), Apple processes the redemption through the App Store and grants you the corresponding Pro entitlement. The Company does not receive personally identifying information about who redeemed which code; we receive only an anonymized count of redemptions through standard App Store Connect reporting.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
To make our practices as clear as possible, the following are not collected by OpsMed — Destinations in v1:
- We do not collect or store your name, email address, phone number, or any account-identifying information. The App has no user account system.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos (other than the App's own asset cache), microphone, or camera input.
- We do not collect your travel history, route history, ETA history, or any record of which destinations you tapped.
- We do not collect biometric data.
- We do not collect health data, medical data, or Protected Health Information (PHI). The App is not designed to store, transmit, or process patient data of any kind.
- We do not collect data about other users on your device (such as passengers or patients).
- We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or cross-app tracking.
- We do not sell or rent any data to any third party for any purpose.
4. How Information Is Used
The information described in Section 2 is used solely for the following purposes:
| Data Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Device location | Calculate live distance and ETA to your saved destinations |
| User-entered destinations | Display your destination dashboard and enable handoff to a navigation app |
| Capability tags | Enable optional capability filtering in your dashboard |
| Purchase receipts | Validate your Pro entitlement and support Restore Purchases |
| Anonymous diagnostics | Improve App stability and performance |
We do not use any of the above data for advertising, marketing profiling, behavioral targeting, or sale to third parties.
5. How Information Is Shared
5.1 No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, lease, or otherwise commercially distribute any data we collect or process. There is no "data brokerage" model in OpsMed — Destinations.
5.2 Service Providers
The following service providers may process limited information on our behalf or yours:
| Service | Provider | Data Processed | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| App Store and StoreKit 2 | Apple Inc. | Purchase transactions, receipts, Promo Code redemptions | Process payments and validate entitlements | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
| Maps and routing | Apple Inc. (MapKit) | Origin and destination coordinates for route requests | Calculate driving directions and ETAs | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
| App distribution and crash reporting | Apple Inc. (App Store, TestFlight) | App Store account-level data (managed by Apple), crash reports if user has analytics enabled | Distribute the App and report stability issues | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
Apple's processing of your App Store account, payment method, and Apple ID is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this Privacy Policy.
5.3 Navigation App Handoff
When you tap a destination to begin navigation, the App opens your selected third-party navigation application (Apple Maps, Waze, or Google Maps) and passes the destination's coordinates to that app via a documented URL scheme. Once handoff occurs, that navigation app's privacy policy governs how the destination data and your subsequent location are used.
| Navigation App | Provider | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Maps | Apple Inc. | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
| Waze | Google LLC / Waze | https://www.waze.com/legal/privacy/ |
| Google Maps | Google LLC | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
The App does not transmit your destination history, list of saved destinations, or capability tags to any of these third-party navigation apps. Only the single coordinate you tapped is passed to the app at the moment of handoff.
5.4 Legal Disclosure
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, valid legal process, or a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or property, or protect the safety of users or the public. Because we collect so little data and because most data never leaves your device, the practical scope of any such disclosure is limited.
5.5 Business Transfers
If Be Prepared Education LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, you will be notified via the App and on www.bepreparededu.com before any data subject to this Privacy Policy is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Data Retention
6.1 On-Device Data
Your destinations, capability tags, notes, and App settings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App permanently removes all on-device data managed by the App.
6.2 Purchase Records
Apple retains your App Store purchase records under its own retention policies. Your Pro entitlement remains tied to your Apple ID and is restorable on any device signed into the same Apple ID, subject to App Store policies. The Company does not maintain a separate purchase or entitlement database in v1.
6.3 Diagnostic Data
Anonymized crash reports and performance metrics, if shared, are retained by Apple under Apple's diagnostic data policies. We do not maintain a separate copy of this data.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Because the App stores most data only on your device, you exercise most privacy rights directly through the App and your device Settings rather than through a request to us.
7.1 Access
All destinations, capability tags, and notes you have created are visible to you within the App at any time. The App is itself the access mechanism.
7.2 Correction
You may edit any destination, capability tag, or note at any time directly within the App.
7.3 Deletion
You may delete individual destinations within the App. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all on-device data managed by the App. Apple App Store purchase records are retained by Apple under its own policies; the Company does not control or directly delete those records.
7.4 Portability
The App does not currently support data export. Because all destination data is user-entered and visible in the App, portability is functionally available through manual recreation. A formal export feature is under consideration for a future version.
7.5 Location Permission Control
You may grant, change, or revoke location permission at any time through Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → OpsMed on your device. Revoking location permission disables live ETA calculation but does not affect your saved destinations.
7.6 State Privacy Rights
Residents of certain U.S. states (including California under the CPRA, Virginia under the VCDPA, and other states with comparable laws) have additional rights regarding personal information, including the right to know what personal information is processed about them, to request deletion of personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As described above, the Company does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and most data subject to these rights either resides on your device or is processed by Apple under its own policies. To exercise any state-specific right that applies to data we process, contact us using the information in Section 12.
7.7 EU and UK Residents
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR or comparable laws including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
Be Prepared Education LLC is the data controller for the limited information processed in connection with the App.
The legal basis for our limited processing is contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR) for purchase-related data and your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for location services.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (data protection authority) if you believe your data has been mishandled. To exercise any right under this Section 7.7 with the Company directly, contact us using the information in Section 12.
7.8 California Privacy Notice
This Section 7.8 supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy and provides additional information for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA").
Categories of personal information processed. As described in Section 2, the App processes: device location data (kept only on your device); App Store transaction receipts processed via Apple StoreKit 2; and, if enabled by you, anonymized diagnostic data routed through Apple. The Company does not process customer records, biometric information, internet activity logs, geolocation data on its servers, sensory information, employment information, education information, inferences, or sensitive personal information beyond what is described in Section 2.
Sources of personal information. Your device, your interactions with the App, and the Apple App Store.
Purposes of processing. As described in Section 4. The Company does not use your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. The Company does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because the Company does not engage in such sales or sharing, no opt-out mechanism is required, and none is provided.
California rights. California residents have the right to: (a) know what personal information the Company processes about them; (b) request correction of inaccurate personal information; (c) request deletion of personal information; (d) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (not applicable, as the Company does not engage in such sale or sharing); (e) limit the use of sensitive personal information (not applicable, as the Company does not process sensitive personal information beyond what is described in Section 2); and (f) be free from discrimination for exercising any of the foregoing rights.
To exercise any California right, contact the Company using the information in Section 12. The Company will verify your request to a degree commensurate with the sensitivity of the information involved and will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
8. Security
We implement reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect the limited categories of information processed by the App:
- On-device encryption. Destination data stored on your device is protected by iOS file-system encryption tied to your device passcode.
- Transport encryption. All communications between the App and Apple's services (StoreKit 2, MapKit, App Store) occur over TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Minimization. The App is architected to minimize what leaves your device. Most data is processed locally and never transmitted.
- No backend service. v1 of the App has no Be Prepared Education LLC server, database, or backend infrastructure. There is no central data store of user information that could be breached.
- Breach notification. In the event of a security incident that compromises personal information the Company processes, the Company will provide notice to affected users and, where required, to relevant regulatory authorities, in accordance with applicable law and within the timeframes required by such law. Because v1 has no backend service and most user data resides only on your device, the categories of personal information that could be affected by a breach of Company-controlled systems are limited (see Section 2).
No method of electronic transmission or storage is perfectly secure. The App is provided on an "as available" basis as described in the OpsMed — Destinations Terms of Service.
9. Children's Privacy
OpsMed — Destinations is designed for use by adult professionals (medics, EMS providers, fire and rescue personnel, and similarly situated users). The App is rated 4+ in the App Store solely because it does not contain content unsuitable for children, not because it is directed to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App in a manner that resulted in the Company processing their personal information, contact us using the information in Section 12 and we will take appropriate steps.
10. International Users
The App is designed for use within the United States. Apple processes data on servers located in the United States under its own policies. If you are located outside the United States, by using the App you consent to the transfer of any limited data described in this Privacy Policy to the United States for processing as described above.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and, where practicable, present an in-App notice on next launch. The most current version is always available at the URL where this Privacy Policy is published. Continued use of the App after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
For changes that materially expand the categories of data collected or the purposes of use, we will provide notice at least thirty (30) days before the change takes effect.
If a future version of the App introduces features that materially expand our data practices — such as cloud sync, multi-device pairing, user accounts, or third-party analytics — those features will be governed by an updated Privacy Policy communicated at the time of release. Where applicable law or the nature of the change requires affirmative consent, the Company will obtain such consent before subjecting your data to the new practices.
