Michigan-Specific Notes
- Not a compact state. Michigan does not participate in the NLC. Even compact license holders from other states must obtain a Michigan license by endorsement. Legislation has been proposed but not enacted.
- 60-day grace period. If you miss your renewal deadline, you have 60 days to renew with a $20 late fee. You cannot practice during the grace period. After 60 days, full relicensure is required.
- Renewal notification sent approximately 90 days before expiration via email and mailed postcard.
- CE Broker optional. Michigan does not require CE Broker but some approved providers report there. The Board conducts random post-renewal audits.
- Retain CE records for at least 4 years.
- Board does not maintain CE records. You are responsible for your own documentation.
- No paper licenses. Verify status through the Michigan License Verification system.
- Payment: Credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover).
