APRN Additional Requirements

  • All RN requirements above, plus:

Florida-Specific Notes

  • CE Broker is mandatory. All CE must be tracked through CE Broker. Many approved providers report automatically. You can also self-report missing completions. A free CE Broker Basics account is sufficient.
  • Mandatory final exam. The Board requires a passing score of 70% or higher on exams for each mandatory topic course.
  • First renewal prorating. Nurses whose initial license was not issued for a full 2 years must complete 1 hour of CE per month they held the license, plus all mandatory topics.
  • License groups. Florida RN licenses expire in groups — check your specific group expiration (April 30 or July 31).
  • Electronic fingerprinting now required per HB 975 (2024 session).
  • Compact state. If practicing in Florida under a multistate license from another compact state, you do not need to complete Florida CE or pay Florida renewal fees — follow your home state's requirements.
  • Renewal available 90 days before expiration through MQA Online Services.
  • Failure to renew: License goes delinquent. Practicing with an expired license is illegal. After two consecutive delinquent cycles, the license becomes null and void and cannot be reactivated.
