New Hampshire EMT, AEMT & Paramedic License Renewal Requirements
New Hampshire EMS licenses are regulated by the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, under the Department of Safety, Division of Fire Standards and Training & EMS. Additional State Requirements (Beyond NREMT)
After completing NREMT recertification, New Hampshire requires:
- Scope of Practice Program — Complete the approved, level-appropriate NH Scope of Practice program (available through the NHFA & EMS Online Learning Academy). Not all license levels require this — check the Online Learning Academy for availability.
- NH EMS Protocols Program — Complete the NH EMS Protocols course at your training level (EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic).
New Hampshire-Specific Notes
- NREMT mandatory for all renewals. Unlike many states, New Hampshire requires maintaining current NREMT certification — there is no state-only CE pathway.
- Three-part renewal. You need NREMT + Scope of Practice + Protocols. All three must be completed.
- Renewals processed through RespondNH — not the same portal as initial applications.
- Fingerprint and background check required for initial licensure through NH Criminal Records (LiveScan). Choose "Emergency Medical Service Provider Licensing" as the Type of Agency when scheduling.
- CAPCE-accredited courses accepted for NREMT NCCP CE hours.
- No residency requirement to hold a NH EMS license.
- Paper applications not accepted for most licensing actions — use electronic submission via email to emslicensing@dos.nh.gov.
How to Renew
- Complete NREMT recertification (all NCCP CE hours)
- Complete the NH Scope of Practice program (if required for your level)
- Complete the NH EMS Protocols program at your level
- Submit renewal through RespondNH with all documentation
- Include copy of current NREMT card
