Alabama-Specific Requirements
- Abram Colin Act (Effective 2026 renewals): All EMS personnel must complete 1 hour per year of training on interacting with individuals who have sensory needs and/or invisible disabilities. This training counts toward CE credit but is mandatory for renewals starting in 2026.
- Intermediates and state-only providers: Must submit all CE certificates with renewal — this is mandatory, not an audit.
- Alabama does not issue new Intermediate EMT licenses. Existing Intermediates may maintain their license, but once expired, they must obtain NREMT certification at an available level.
